Description: Praseodymium is a soft, silvery, malleable and ductile metal. It is slightly more resistant to air corrosion than europium, lanthanum, cerium, or neodymium. But when exposed to air, it develops a green oxide coating. It should be stored in a light mineral oil or sealed in plastic, just like other rare-earth metals.
Source: Praseodymium can be found in a variety of minerals alongside other rare-earth elements. The two main commercial sources of rare-earth metals are monazite and bastnasite.
Praseodymium can be produced in a variety of ways, including by calcium reduction of anhydrous fluoride chloride.
